CITY BACKGROUND
The municipality of Baliwag is located on the westernmost part of Bulacan
province. North of the town is two (2) municipalities of Pampanga namely: San
Luis and Candaba. On the South are Pulilan and Plaridel, both Bulacan.
Approximately, Baliwag is 52 kms. North of Manila which usually takes an hour
travel.
It has a total population of 103,054 in the latest Statistics Office 1995
survey. It is projected to have reached 125,217 in 2001.
Industrial activities play a vital role in the development and progress of the
municipality. At present, there are 328 industrial establishments operating in
Baliwag. The nature of these establishment are almost agro-industrial composed
of ricemills, livestocks, poultry, cottage and small-scale industries, food
production and the like.
Baliwag is considered as the growth center in the Northern Hemisphere of
Bulacan and is one of the commercial centers in the province. Presently, there
are approximately 590 commercial establishments
Comprising of the public market, general merchandise and sari-sari stores and
services like wholesale and retail trading, banking and finance and insurance
services.
SITE HIGHLIGHTS
Mt. Zion Baliwag is situated along Doņa Remedios Trinidad Highway in Brgy.
Mulawin. The site, a 5.3-hectare property is flood-free and accessible to
public utility vehicles. Aside from the patrons of Baliwag, the site is also
accessible to the people of Bustos and Plaridel. Tricycle is the most
accessible means of transportation from Baliwag proper to the site. Another
entry point is the National Highway from Pulilan where buses going to Gapan
and Cabanatuan pass by.
